Homeschool Workshops – Tuesdays
(AM & PM Sessions)

For small groups of home school students in grades 4 through 11, join fun and educational STEM workshops to enrich your home education.  These 2-hour sessions run 9:30-11:30 am and 12:30-2:30 pm. Early drop-off and late pickup can be arranged.

Tour Before Registering

Check us out before signing up! You want to know us, see our facilities, and meet our staff. Come to one of our regular open house sessions. Or call us to schedule an appointment to visit. We want you and your child to be comfortable with our facility and enrichment program. Note that we are a maker space for educational workshops, not a school, camp, or daycare.

Homeschool Workshops Details

+ Students participate in a pre-programmed group activity for most of the session. We try to build in some free time to give students some choices and variety. Although workshops are structured instructional time, students arriving earlier or staying later will have unstructured time to socialize, work on projects, play games, watch educational science videos, or just chill out.

+ The lead instructor has been a teacher for 43 years and has taught math, algebra, Latin, English, chemistry, astronomy, earth science, geology, electronics, computer programming, woodworking, graphic design, photography, amateur radio, and orienteering. Adult instructors in this program go through CORI/SORI verification.

+ NE SciTech offers snacks and lunch items for purchase separately (most items are $1 each) or students may bring their own food.  There are refrigerators to keep things cold.

+ Parents are welcome to stay in the building during the workshop and work on their own. WIFI access and a ready supply of coffee, tea, and snacks is available (most items are $1 each).

+ We will try to accommodate parents’ commuting and work schedules for early drop-offs and late pickups. If you need that extra time, please understand that it will be unstructured activity time (as explained above).

Topics planned for 2023-2024 year

We offer two concurrent sessions, both morning and afternoon, one for younger students in grades 4-7 and one for older students in grades 8-11, for the benefit of families with more than one child.  Reservations will open in July.  Spaces are limited.
